Nutrition Value Provided by Different Rice Varieties
Basmati rice exporters in India receive high demand for white rice in both short and long grains – as both are needed to prepare different types of recipes. The short grain is sticky and very starchy, making it ideal for sushi, risotto, paella, and stews. On the other hand, long-grain rice, such as basmati, contains less starch, so don’t clump when cooked.
Basmati rice manufacturers prepare different varieties of basmati, as it is considered the royal food grain due to its distinct texture, aroma, and taste. White rice is rich in magnesium, phosphorus, selenium, thiamine, folic acid, and niacin. However, it has low fibre content, hence, considered as pro-inflammatory.
Export of basmati rice in India is done at a great extent to fulfil worldwide demand for basmati. Organic brown basmati rice is another popular rice variety that is consumed worldwide. It also comes in both short and long grains. It is chewier and heartier compared to white rice. But it takes almost twice to cook because of less starch.
Brown basmati rice suppliers have also revealed that it is a whole grain that contains four times more fibre than white rice. It slows down the rate of converting carbohydrates into glucose in the bloodstream, hence, helps in stabilizing the blood sugar levels. So, it is also a good diet option for diabetics.
Some basmati rice distributors also supply wild rice, which is considered a grass. It is more nutritious than brown rice in many ways. It has higher protein, vitamin A, and folic acid, reportedly. Wild rice also has less starch and its lower glycemic load makes it is the perfect dietary source for diabetics, health enthusiasts, and people with any other health conditions.
Although brown and wild rice has a lower GI compared to white rice, no rice variety is actually low in glycemic content. So, diabetics must not have heavy rice diets, especially short grain or white rice varieties.
